This Jaisalmer Fort Vlog is based on my visit to Jaisalmer Fort(also known as sonar killa) in the Jaisalmer City of Rajasthan. We hired a guide for our entire trip/visit to Jaisalmer and in this Jaisalmer Fort video he will be telling about Jaisalmer Fort History in Hindi. The entire Jaisalmer Fort Tour video will show you the outside (amazing drone shots) as well as the Jaisalmer Fort inside including the Museum, Haveli, Houses, and Jain Temples. You will also find a number of Jaisalmer hotels inside fort so if you wish you can book your Jaisalmer stay inside the fort as well.
Jaisalmer Fort is known to be one of the very few forts that are "living forts" in the world (one such Fort is as Carcassonne, France), as nearly 25% of the old city's population still lives within the fort. About 800-year ago, this fort was only the city of Jaisalmer. The first settlements that started outside the fort walls, in order to accommodate the growing population of Jaisalmer, came up in the 17th century.

Jaisalmer Fort is well known as the second oldest fort in Rajasthan and it was built in 1156 AD by the Rajput Rawal (ruler) Jaisal from whom this fort derives its name, and stood at the crossroads of important trade routes (including the ancient Silk road).
The fort has a total length of 1,500 ft (460 m) and width of 750 ft (230 m) and it is built on a hill that raises above a height of 250 ft (76 m) above the surrounding areas of the city. The base of the fort has a 15 ft (4.6 m) tall wall that forms the fort's outermost ring, within its triple ringed defence architecture. The upper bastions or towers of the fort form a defensive inner-wall perimeter which has a length of about 2.5 mi (4.0 km). Now the fort has 99 bastions, out of which 92 were built or substantially rebuilt between the year 1633-47. The fort also incorporates four fortified entrances or gates from the townside, out of which one was once guarded by cannon.
