STORYLINE:
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday in Beijing, as part of his visit to China aiming to strengthen economic ties between the two trading partners.
Yudhoyono had overseen the signing of a series of agreements with regional economic superpower China earlier in the day.
The signings followed talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao in which the sides reaffirmed the importance of relations.
The six memorandums of understanding covered cooperation in areas including trade, tourism, anti-drug efforts and fisheries management.
Indonesia has benefited from booming Chinese demand for its commodities such as palm oil and tin and is seeking more Chinese investment.
But last year's bilateral trade of 60.5 (b) billion US dollars was heavily in China's favour and Indonesian firms have complained of a flood of cheap Chinese goods allowed under a 2010 free trade agreement.
Yudhoyono is later expected to deliver a speech and receive an honorary doctorate degree from Tsinghua University, China's state news agency Xinhua reported.
