Welcome to the 2nd part of Michael's 2-part tutorial on gem faceting diagrams! In this video, Mike will explain some of the things necessary for a gem cutter to understand when using a faceting diagram -- where to find faceting designs, what kind of gear index to use for a certain stone cut, symmetry and when it's used, and the girdle of a stone.
If you are new to the gem cutting hobby or if you aspire someday to provide professional gem cutting services, or if you were simply out hiking recently and stumbled across a pretty colored gemstone and were thinking about all the possible gem cutting shapes you could make with Dremel, then this video may help give you some pointers.
As always, if your travels take you near me or our store, please drop in, we would love to talk to you about this unique trade. If you are interested in learning new gem cutting machine prices or you want to know which cutters currently have used gem cutting and polishing machines for sale, just ask as I am always happy to answer any questions you may have.
If you are thinking about attending a gem cutting school to take more formal gem cutting lessons or even complete Gem Cutting 101 courses, I would recommend you first search for a Gem Cutting Club or Lapidary Club near you as they will have the best information on what is available in your area.
We're always open to hearing from you about ways we can improve our tutorials! Please let us know in the comments how we can help you be on your way to mastering the art of gem cutting.
