The 2024 AML Western States & Tribes Award goes to Wyoming team for their work at the Hannah #3 Mine Subsidence and Bridge Repair Carbon County Road 297 (CR297). Situated atop the Hanna No. 3 Mine, CR297 serves as the secondary and emergency access from US Hwy 287 to the communities of Hanna and Elmo. Among the dozens of documented historic subsidence events recorded in the Hanna No. 3 Mine, several occurred under or adjacent to the CR297 driving surface. By injecting 26,672 cubic yards of void-fill grout into the mine workings, this project mitigated subsidence risk for 0.7 miles of CR297.
