The 2023 Nissan X-Trail is one of a handful of new mid-size SUVs that's available with two seating configurations. You see, most models in the segment only come with five seats, but the X-Trail offers that and seven seats.
Of course, the related Mitsubishi has two- and three-row options, too, but the trouble is the seven-seat layout rarely translates well in this class, with space so limited that young children are the only humans that should be subjected to the rear seats.
That said, in this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar and her family of three spend a week with the X-Trail's ST-L grade in seven-seat form to see if it offers genuine three-row practicality.
