At first most people would think that one of the Great Lakes is the deepest, since they are among the largest lakes in North America
But that isn’t the case
To find the actual deepest lake, we have to head up to the Pacific Northwest
The state of Oregon houses Crater Lake, which is actually the deepest lake in the nation
It was formed by a volcano that’s been dormant for around 4800 years or so
Its depth measured a staggering 1943 feet!
And for context, it’s actually taller than the Empire State Building, which stands at 1454ft tall
