We traveled from Zürich to Milan and from there, we took the night train directly to Messina. After spending a few days on Alicudi, the southernmost of the Aeolian Islands, we explored the most southern part of Italy. After circling the island with stops in the more touristy cities of Taormina and Syracuse, we visited the amazing Scala dei Turchi and the beautiful land art piece, Cretto di Burri. Finally, we returned to the shadow of Mount Etna volcano.
