This video captures how challenging it was to paddle back to the Pt Belvedere after playing on the Raccoon Strait. The current was very strong in front of the Point, and the eddyline was hard to cross. This video also captures the capsize of a paddler right in the eddyline, and the current took him and his kayak quickly towards the Golden Gate Bridge direction. For a moment, I thought about whether I should chase the victim and help the rescue. But soon it became clear to me that I better take care of myself first, as there were other more experienced kayakers nearby and they were in a better position to do the rescue. So I focused on paddle hard to cross the eddyline. This was just part of the challenges we had last Saturday. There were more to share later.
