“Former President Donald Trump has won the Republican presidential primary in South Carolina. That means that Trump has been victorious in all of the GOP nominating contests that have happened thus far. In South Carolina, a Republican candidate’s victory often signals the likelihood that he or she will have success in the states that vote on Super Tuesday. Those contests happen on March 5th, and if Donald Trump performs well there, that could put him even closer to securing the delegates needed to become the Republican nominee for 2024.”
STORYLINE:
Former President Donald Trump has won the South Carolina Republican presidential primary, beating out Nikki Haley in her home state.
 
Trump has been victorious in all of the GOP nominating contests held so far.
 
Associated Press reporter Meg Kinnard says that Trump is now well-positioned heading into Super Tuesday.
