Pakistan Beefs Up Security Amidst Rising Violence Ahead of SCO Summit | Subscribe to Firstpost
Pakistan witnessed a surge in violence ahead of the SCO Summit scheduled for October 15-16 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The South Asian nation was forced to beef up security amidst the rising violence. Rawalpindi administration has imposed section 144, restricting public gatherings in the city for four days, starting October 13. The authorities have also asked businesses to remain shut in the twin cities between October 12 and 16. The security measures followed multiple reports of violence in recent days. The most recent one was the violence in northwestern Pakistan. Tribal clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed at least 11 and injured eight others, including women and children.
