The FJ40 MY1976 Classic Restoration is really picking up the pace now. Since the last episode the engine and gearbox are back in the chassis and all of the new brake lines have been fitted up and they look fantastic.
The body came back from the paint shop and WOW it looks amazing, we have been getting stuck in fitting up the panels with all of the brand new Terrain Tamer rubbers, the Kaymar rear bar has been mounted and the electrical loom has been fully refurbished and refitted. The rear doors put up a bit of a fight, but with a few minor tweaks we got them to fit perfectly. This is such an exciting part of the build process as we get to see all of the individual work streams coming together.
A bigger challenge was fitting up the Browns Davis long range tank as the kit was designed to replace and under-body tank rather than the in cab tank. But nothing we can't handle and with a bit of patience and ingenuity we managed to rework the kit and adapt it to suit this vehicle.
The engine bay is really coming together and all of the freshly anodized parts really set it off. It won't be long now before we are able to fire this old girl up and take her for a spin!
