After passing the security checkpoint at Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 on October 14, 2012, I attempted to make a video recording of security officers searching my wife's bag, in order to prevent theft or damage to her property. The security supervisor on duty ordered me to stop filming and barked at me that filming security at Heathrow Airport is against the law.
I was ordered to cease filming immediately and hand my camera to the security officers. The officers then proceeded to delete my footage without my consent. During the course of deleting my footage the officers inspected several of the other photographs on my camera, again without my consent. This was a gross invasion of my privacy and a destruction of my property by UK government agents without any legal authority or justification.
Upon returning to my home in the United States, I recovered the video using special data recovery software. Here it is:
