So Rocca Imperiale Marina is near the beach, this town Rocca Imperiale is about 4 km from the sea.
It was founded (1221AD) by a Swabian emperor Frederick II with the build of the caslte and the town developed later. Attacked by Saracen(=arabs 1664AD) and Turkish raiders (1644AD) but the monestary and castle held. The town was destoyed by them.
Escher has been in this town, he painted a similar town in Calabria Morano Calabro.
I just ended up here by chance, liked the quiet space, space for walking my dog here was better then most other towns I was.
