Upscaling community-based adaptation (CBA) and gender-just adaptation initiatives is key to the success of locally led adaptation (LLA).
Upscaling of CBA could take the form of replication within a river basin; by ensuring CBA is adopted by governments; and/or through the transfer of experiences between different localities.
However, upscaling remains challenging due to barriers varying from access to finance and political will to how climate impacts of CBA are defined and measured - opposed to business as usual.
Together with CBA champions, policymakers, financiers and the audience, this session at the 16th International Conference on Community-based Adaptation (CBA16) discussed the actions needed to bridge barriers and explore how the LLA principles can be supportive for upscaling CBA.
