► ABOUT THIS HIKE
In the second half of August 2024, I hiked the West Highland Way, Scotland's most famous long-distance trail. The journey began in Milngavie, just outside Glasgow, and ended 150km later in Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis.
On day one, I trekked from Milngavie to Balmaha (32km), starting in the lowlands and reaching the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Day two was a shorter but scenic 12km from Balmaha to Rowardennan, following the eastern shores of Loch Lomond. The third day was challenging, covering 34km from Rowardennan to Crianlarich, moving away from Loch Lomond into the Highlands
Day four was the longest stretch, a grueling 41km from Crianlarich to Kingshouse, passing through some of the most remote and beautiful landscapes of the trail. This day culminated in a breathtaking view of Buachaille Etive Mor, often called the most photographed mountain in Scotland. On the fifth day, I tackled the infamous Devil's Staircase, hiking 14km from Kingshouse to Kinlochleven. The final day was a 25km push from Kinlochleven to Fort William, concluding this incredible journey through the Scottish Highlands.
All footage was captured using a GoPro Hero 11, DJI Mini 3 Pro drone, and Pixel 6 smartphone.
