The purpose of the Sybir Memorial Museum being established in Białystok is to discover and popularise knowledge connected with the subject of exiles, deportations and the fate of Poles in Syberia, as well as the living conditions of the Polish community in the eastern lands of the Republic of Poland. The Sybir Memorial Museum is to become the key institution, not only Polish but also the European one, initiating and conducting scientific research regarding the Siberian theme in its broad sense and issues related to the exile and deportation with special emphasis on the fate of the Polish community.
