DIY Floating Shelves/Cat Shelves with Window Bridge. In this video I show you all the steps i took to build these floating shelves. I milled an Eastern Red Cedar log into 2"x8" pieces and then cut 2" off the 8" width, making 2"x2" and 2"x6" pieces . Then I used the Miter saw to cut them to 42" for the window bridge & 18" long shelve. I used a thickness planer to plane the pieces down to 1-3/4". Drill press with a 3/4" forcener bit to drill the holes for the 1/2" conduit pipes and holes to clear the mounting hardware. JB weld epoxy to secure the conduit pipes. Sanded with 220 grit on the random orbital sander. Applied 2 coats of shellac clear wood finish and mounted the shelves to the studs in the wall.
