What is “soft takeover”, and how does it affect the pitch faders on your DJ hardware?
Soft takeover is a concept that many DJs are familiar with, but may not recognize by name. It occurs when there’s a discrepancy between a deck's pitch/BPM setting and the physical position of the pitch fader, causing the software to temporarily “take over” control of the track’s BPM until the pitch fader is returned to its previous position. This prevents sudden, extreme tempo changes when adjusting the BPM of your tracks.
In this video, you’ll learn why soft takeover is built into nearly all DJ software & hardware, and some situations in which it’s activated!
