In the Eastern Sierra, we want you to Camp like a Pro. In this video, we’ll cover how to select an appropriate dispersed campsite, or campsite that exists outside of a developed campground.
If you’re looking for a more rustic camping experience (think: no bathrooms, no trash cans, no running water, no campfire rings) dispersed camping might be an option for you. Before you set out on a dispersed camping trip, please make sure you read the regulations below and understand how to do so, legally, in the Mammoth Lakes area.

Remember:
-Minimize your impact
-Have a plan for #1 and #1: there are no bathrooms in dispersed camping areas.
-Bring your own water.
-Take all of your trash home with you.
-Bring proper food storage, like a bear-proof canister.
-Drive and camp on established roads only.
-Do not camp on land that is not designated for dispersed camping.
-Know the campfire regulations at the time of your trip.
