Wanna learn how to remove a fiberglass bathtub and surround?
Today's video tutorial shares the step-by-step process. My buddy Steve White from SRW Contracting Inc. shows you how he removes a fiberglass tub and surround in 60 minutes.
He's shares all the tools and skills needed to get this project done.
The first thing to do is turn the water off to the house.
That way, if you accidentally cut a pipe it won't flood your bathroom or the adjacent rooms.
Then dismantle all the tub plumbing.
You'll want to remove the
-tub drain
-tub overflow trim piece
-tub spout
-faucet trim plate and
-shower head
Smash any tile or drywall that's directly above the fiberglass surround. This will expose the nails that hold the tub surround to the studs.
Pull those nails with a hammer.
Grab a reciprocating saw and cut the fiberglass tub surround at the corners. Start at the top and go the down to the tub deck.
Then cut along the tub edges.
You can then pull the surround from the wall then the tub.
