In 2012, Queen Elizabeth made a surprise appearance at a wedding of hairdressing salon owners. Newlyweds John and Frances Canning had pre-booked Manchester Town Hall for their wedding ceremony, and in February they received a phone call alerting them that a particularly important person would be in the building at the same time. When the couple found out who it was, they sent a mock invitation to Her Majesty, to which they received a kind reply, but in no way expected a follow-up. During the ceremony they were told that the person would be arriving shortly, and the Queen and her husband entered and addressed the couple by name. Elizabeth complimented the bride and wished her well. And Prince Philip asked in which region of Italy they will spend their honeymoon.
