the Prince Islands outside of Istanbul, Turkey. Sometimes called the Princes' Islands or the Princess Islands, these islands make for a great daytrip out of the city via ferry. In this video we look at the various islands and then explore the most popular tourist island.
The Prince Islands (Turkish: Prens Adaları, from the historic Greek name Prinkēpōn nēsoi (Πριγκήπων νήσοι), alternatively written as Princes' Islands in which the "princes" are plural (meaning "Islands of the Princes"); or Kızıl Adalar ("Red Islands") in Turkish); officially just Adalar ("Islands"), are an archipelago off the coast of Istanbul, Turkey, in the Sea of Marmara. The islands constitute the Adalar district of Istanbul Province.
They consist of four larger islands, Büyükada ("Big Island"), Heybeliada ("Saddlebag Island"), Burgazada ("Fortress Island"), Kınalıada ("Henna Island"), and five much smaller ones, Sedef Adası ("Mother-of-Pearl Island"), Yassıada ("Flat Island"), Sivriada ("Sharp Island"), Kaşık Adası ("Spoon Island"), and Tavşan Adası ("Rabbit Island").
