Hi guys, It's Adam with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule square bar roof rack system on our 2019 Nissan Armada. What this is going to do, it's going to provide plenty of space to load any cargo, bikes, or kayaks that you may be taking on the road with you. It's also going to free up a bunch of space inside your cab for all your passengers. So this is a 60 inch square bar and it does have a polymer coating on top of it. And this new redesign basically puts these foot tracks in the bottom, which gives you all 60 inches of roof rack to use on top.
So these square bars are going to have a great rugged look to your Armada. It does have a bit of wind noise and drag. So, Thule does make a wingbar aero-style roof rack that does cut through the air a bit better. So these feet are going to be secured with a nice rubber coating. And what this is going to do, it's going to grip the side rails of your Armada and prevent all damage and wear, tear that might happen on any other roof rack system that does not have the protective coating. So now I'm going to take a few measurements for you.
A couple of useful measurements would be from the bottom of your side rail to the roof, which is about two and a quarter. And that's going to just make sure that you're not going to harm your roof when loading anything on your rack. And on top of that, from your roof to the top of your rack is about three inches. That's useful to know just for any low clearance situations, just to make sure your roof rack won't get damaged. So the Thule square bar roof rack system is going to have a weight limit of 220 pounds and it is always smart to check your owner's manual of your Armada to make sure that it does allow 220 pounds to go on top of your vehicle. So now that I went over some of those features, I'm going to show you how easy it is to install.
So now that we have all of our parts laid out, I'm going to show you how to assemble this rack. First thing you've got to do is just flip over this bar right here and take your raised rail foot and make sure that this track feeds in properly. And once you get that on, all you got to do is take your end cap right here, put it on there, make sure it's tight, and now I'll show you how easy it is to install. So first step, we just want to get this bar in place. And as our Armada sits a little higher, we might have to open up the door, step on this step in here, just to get it in place. And we're not fastening anything down, we're just basically getting into place, getting it lined up and straight, and we'll do the fascinating later.
I'll show you that right now.Find a good spot. So now what we're going to want to do is to make sure that this back bar is evenly spread between our front bar. And to do that, we're going to take our measuring tape and measure from the front of our back bar to the front of our front bar. And they do recommend at least 24 inches, but you can do it to however long you need to accommodate for whatever you're hauling. In this instance, I'm going to get about 29 inches. And we're going to repeat that for the other side. Now that the measurement's all correct, we can start tightening everything down. So I already went ahead and made sure that these crossbars we're even so the overhang on both our left and right side are exactly the same. This is personal preference, you don't have to, but I like my rack to look symmetrical. So that's what I just did just there. So now, all you got to do is take the tool that is included with the kit and you put it in the tightening bolt right there. Keep turning until you'll hear an audible c
