3.10.21 | Video by Adam | BROOKLYN (DCPI) - On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at approximately 2320 hours, police responded to a 911 call of motor vehicle collision on the Gowanus Expressway approaching 92 Street, within the confines of the 68 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 30-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive, within the passenger seat of a 2013 black 535-I BMW sedan. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the aided female deceased at the scene. The 30-year-old male operator of the vehicle was removed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, in stable condition, and placed in police custody. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined the BMW sedan was traveling west bound on the Gowanus Expressway, approaching Exit 17 (92 Street), when the vehicle struck the rear portion of a 2000 white Freightliner truck, operated by a 46-year-old male, which was stopped in traffic in the middle lane west bound on the Gowanus Expressway. Both vehicles remained on scene and the operator of the truck was not injured. The investigation remains ongoing.
