Armenian police used water cannons to disperse a protest on Tuesday (June 23) in the capital city of Yerevan.
The protest, which was organised by young activists with no affiliation to any political parties, was triggered last week by the state regulatory commission's decision to increase the tariff on electricity from 17 to 22 percent.
Around 5,000 demonstrators took part in the march with several being taken away by police and while a number of injured protesters were taken to hospital.
