Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza, who is in the eye of the storm, insists he will run for the controversial third term but added that he would not seek office again. The President’s announcement comes on the heels of two more deaths in a grenade attack, bringing the total number of the dead in the protests to 17. In an address to the nation, President Nkurunziza said he would respect the Constitutional Court ruling which upheld his third term bid.
But Burundi’s opposition and Civil Society which has led the protests say they will not back down.
