INDEPENDENCE, Ky. (WKRC) - Homeowners in Northern Kentucky spent Wednesday, March 1, cleaning up after severe storms and wicked wind moved through the Tri-State.
There haven't been any reports of injuries which is impressive considering the scope of the damage. Lines of tall trees were uprooted throughout Independence. Many of the trees fell within inches of homes and apartments. One clipped Diane Carlotta's home on Richardson Road.
"Got up about 7, power flickered, a few minutes later you could hear the trees go down," she said.
She and her neighbors haven't had power all day, so she and her husband were staying at a hotel Wednesday night.
Not far from there, a sunroom in the rear of Cathy Sutton's home collapsed. The roof now rests in the front yard scattered in pieces. Sutton says she's seen some bad storms before, but nothing like this.
"Luckily everyone in the house is safe. We're looking for a cat, but the dogs and people are good."
A lot of people in the area think the damage indicates a tornado made its way through the area, but the National Weather Service won't be in Boone and Kenton counties to survey until Thursday, March 2.
