Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. DJ Trace was an established producer on the Lucky Spin Recordings Label. He started off on Don FM before making a switch to the prestigious Kool FM. He had bags of dub plates and was always playing fresh sounds. Trace and Ryme- Tyme were renowned partnership on Kool FM and the Jungle Scene, at raves like Kool Skool and Jungle Fever.
The DJ and MC duo would rock the airwaves for many years on the 94.5 FM dial. One of Trace's most celebrated tracks is "Sonar" on Prototype Records, released in 1998.
In 1999, Trace founded the DSCI4 record label, which is currently still releasing tracks. One of those releases was entitled " Dibby". Also teaming up with Optical on Virus Records to produce some absolute classics: Trace & Optical - Mercury Switch / Kridian (2000). Trace's most recent productions were released on CNVX label on an EP, in March 2019: DJ Trace – Opaque EP - Featuring tracks like: Opaque / Kyoto / Substance / Nest. It's interesting when you look at the career of a DJ like Trace who's had a long consistent journey from the Hardcore days, through Jungle era up till now in the Drum & Bass scene. Maximum props to a true heavyweight. Let's not forget this his contribution to pirate radio.
Lastly, if any of the old skool crew are interested in hearing DJ Trace and MC Ryme Tyme perform they are still active on the DNB circuit playing sets @DSCI4 rave night which hosted in a number of European cities, notably London (The Victoria Dalston) and Berlin (@clubGRETCHEN).
