Downtown Portland's temporary ice rink — tucked away by the west end of Morrison Bridge — opened along with the Woodsy Winter Village market Saturday with remarks from Mayor Ted Wheeler, Commissioner Carmen Rubio and Kimberly Branam, Prosper Portland’s executive director. Ice skating displays from local sports mascots, young hockey players, figure skaters and Wheeler himself followed.
“This ice rink and the winter village is a part of our larger goal to make downtown Portland a place for everybody,” Wheeler said.
