The plans for the proposed Department of Government Efficiency are becoming a little more firm, and it includes language about the nation's largest abortion provider. The initiative known as DOGE aims to cut federal spending down to size, and in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal yesterday, the co-heads of DOGE, billionaire Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, said in part, "We are focused on delivering cost savings for taxpayers. Skeptics question how much federal spending DOGE can tame through executive action alone... DOGE will help end federal overspending by taking aim at the $500 billion plus in annual federal expenditures, including nearly $300 million to progressive groups like Planned Parenthood." Editorial Page Writer for the Wall Street Journal, Mene Ukueberuwa, joins to share why many incoming presidential administrations pledge to cut government spending and whether there is anything about DOGE that makes him think it could actually work this time. If these cuts happen, Ukueberuwa discusses what sort of savings we are talking about for taxpayers.
