Our perfect bottom bouncer rod and reel preference for catching walleye this summer. Bottom bouncers and either plain snells or spinners catch so many walleyes for us through the summer.
We go over the preferred rod action and why we choose this specific rod action when using bottom bouncers. An ideal rod action is a seven foot medium extra fast action that has enough power to hook fish in the rod holder and power out of snags. Too soft or moderate of a rod will often snag up more.
We also show why we prefer a low profile bait casting reel and why a line counter is useful with bottom bouncers. Our ideal bottom bouncer reel has a flipping switch for adjusting depth with one hand and also a right and left handed option for holding two rods.
