Taking the championship lead with an overall victory at the opening round in Argentina, the FC 250 rider secured a further six Grand Prix wins throughout the year.

Remaining composed until the very last race, the 20-year-old Dutch rider claimed his first Motocross World Championship title at the Cozar circuit.
