(23 Oct 2016) Thick smoke could be seen rising over the Islamic State-held town of Bashiqa on Sunday.
The operation is part of a massive offensive launched on Monday aimed at liberating Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, which fell to the Islamic State group in 2014.
It is expected to take weeks, if not months.
