Pulitzer Center grantee and video journalist Hilke Schellmann found herself surrounded by Urdu-speaking strangers while reporting on a long-term project in Pakistan. Pakistan is one of the most dangerous country for journalists, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. With her limited knowledge of Urdu, Schellmann ventured out into an unfamiliar part of Karachi, Pakistan's financial center, with a driver who didn't speak English. Schellmann's word of advice for foreign correspondents: "Be ultra prepared."
