This is the first part of a planned series on a tumultuous events known as "The Wars of the Three Kingdoms" This period in the middle of the 17th Century saw some of the most astonishing events ever to take place in the British isles, as religion starts to become more and more important in the government of the state, and people begin to question the right of one man to rule without question over others.
Over the course of the 12 years that the wars raged, thousands died, a King was toppled from his throne, and the powder keg that was Irish Catholicism finally exploded under pressure. Please join me as I give an overview of the events of the period, with a particular focus on Ireland and how it was affected.
