While ambulances with critical patients continue to wait for hours for beds outside government hospitals in Chennai amid a surge in COVID cases, the Stanley Medical College in Chennai has added more than a hundred beds with oxygen to ensure what they call zero delay oxygen points. The state government is working to add 7,000 more oxygen beds. DMK Chief M K Stalin, who took over as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has announced government health insurance cover in government and private hospitals.
