Steelhead season of 2023 started out slow thanks to low and clear water. Fish that entered the tributaries had nowhere to go due to low flows and piled up in the lower parts of the streams where anglers relentlessly pursued them. Well, that all changed in mid-November thanks to a series of rainstorms brought life to the stream and fish began working up into the upper ends of the tributaries. On the last day of November, I decided the time was right to go chasing chrome, and much to my surprise, for most of the day I had the stream almost completely to myself!
Although it started out a little slow, it quickly picked up once I found fish. As the day warmed and some of the ice shelves began breaking up along the stream edges, the fishing turned on in a big way. I honestly don't know how many I caught, but it was in the neighborhood of 25 fish. Most of them made their way onto camera, which you'll see in this video.
The fishing was truly phenomenal. It was the first time in a long time that I woke up the next morning after fishing with a sore arm!
