Here's how I've done in the first 49 days of eating a carnivore diet as a woman over 50.
I'm 51 years old and eating only meat in an effort to reduce cravings, reduce inflammation and ultimately, to lose weight.
I talk about the challenges but also the benefits that have come about from dropping almost all the carbs and focussing on a meat only diet.
The carnivore diet is an elimination diet where you eat only meat and animal products. This includes all red meats whether farmed or wild, poultry, seafood and eggs. Some people, including myself, also consume diary.
I'm in New Zealand, so I'm eating beef, lamb, pork and chicken, some seafood (salmon and shelfish), eggs and dairy (cream/heavy whipping cream, butter and cheese).
When I first started carnivore at the beginning of this year (2024) I had a few odd symptoms and I just wasn't losing weight at the rate I thought (hoped) I would. I was looking for others on YouTube who were sharing their experiences, so that I could get encouraged by hearing their stories, and feel less alone.
Since starting carnivore again (2 Sep 2024) I decided to start up this channel and share everything that I'm going through. We're all totally different (of course) but I thought that sharing my story would help other women out there who are over 50, obese, no major health issues and/or relatively active. And if you're from New Zealand or Australia then we can mention scotch or sirloin steaks, mince and kilograms and not have to convert/translate everything!
Wherever you're from, no matter or age, gender, weight or anything, I hope that by sharing our stories we can encourage each other to be the healthiest, and happiest versions of ourselves.
I'm focussing on my health and it makes me so excited to think that the second half of my life can be filled with vitality instead of pain and discomfort. I wish the same for you too.
