Lagoa and Barrinha de Mira are part of the Natura 2000 Site called Dunas de Mira, Gândara and Gafanhas, classified as an area of priority interest for the conservation of European biodiversity. Lagoa and Barrinha are small lagoons supplied by freshwater streams, so they are extremely sensitive habitats to environmental changes and contain particular biological communities, namely in relation to the diversity of dragonflies and damselflies. EBIO's route follows the right bank of Barrinha.
