Center for Aging in the Digital World's Executive Director - Mely Galang Sato - explains the genesis of why the nonprofit was started.
The nonprofit's flagship Discover Digital Literacy!" program provides more than 30 hours of tutelage to every participant for FREE.
Together with the nonprofit's other programs such as: continuing education classes also provided FREE to alumni, social and educational events including this annual expo, community outreach Q&A program "Ask the geek," and volunteering opportunities such as the nonprofit's "Team Ambassador" program that prepares alumni for "seniors teaching seniors" roles ... all support our wholistic approach to seniors' well being.
Empowering seniors with digital literacy, a necessary 21st century life-skill, is the nonprofit's "mission" and contributes to the nonprofit's "vision" where no senior feels lonely or isolated. We believe that digital literacy can provide options to maintain our "connectedness factor" to family, friends, and the community as we especially learned during the pandemic when physical distancing was mandated but social distancing would've been minimized if more were digitally literate.
