(13 Mar 1967) New World and European records were made at the second European Indoor Games in Prague. Three-hundred athletes competed in the two-day event, attended by 7,000 people. Karen Balzer, of East Germany, set a new time of 6.9 seconds when she won the Women's 50 metres hurdles. Italian Eddy Ottoz equalled set a new world best time in 6.4 seconds, beating the previous world record-holder, Valentin Chistyakov of the Soviet Union in the Men's 50 metre hurdles. Nikolai Karasev of the USSR beat the European Indoor Shot Put record with a distance of 19.26 metres. British Olympic and European Champion, Lynn Davies won long jump with a best jump of 7.85 metres.
