Located in Indaiatuba, Brazil, the Petrus House designed by Sala Squadra Arquitetura & Interiores embodies minimalist sophistication and modern living. Completed in 2020, this 436 m² single-story home sits gracefully on a corner lot, integrating effortlessly with its surroundings.
The young family who commissioned the project sought a home that prioritized natural light, ventilation, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The architects achieved this by employing a metal structure and flat roof, which allowed for the use of slim beams that enhance the desired lightness and minimalism.
The house features an L-shaped layout, born from detailed studies of the lot's topography and solar incidence. The design separates the social and service areas from the private quarters, with a ramp connecting the two levels. The eastern-facing social area offers unobstructed views of the leisure area, while the western side is shielded by a long overhang and a substantial stone wall. This wall not only ensures privacy but also adds an elegant touch to the facade and forms a lush internal garden. A large opening in the wall creates a dynamic interplay between the entrance hall and the garden, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.
Inside, the master suite and children's suites are connected by a suspended terrace that overlooks the leisure area, providing both privacy and unity. The use of stone and wooden cladding on the facade, along with polymeric cement coating (Tecnocimento) for the flooring in social and service areas, adds warmth and character to the minimalist design. This material continuity extends to the bathrooms, where it is used on both floors and walls, contributing to a cohesive and timeless interior.
The Petrus House is a testament to thoughtful design, combining functionality with aesthetic beauty. Its integration of natural elements, minimalist architecture, and meticulous material selection create a serene and inviting home, perfectly suited to the needs and desires of its residents.
