Wishing a very very happy Easter Sunday to all those who celebrate!
'Baba Yetu' (Our Father), is a metrical composition of The Lord's Prayer in Swahili/Kiswahili, and was composed by Christopher Tin as the theme for the 2005 video game Civilization IV. Since then it has been performed at various venues and events around the world, including traditional African gospel choirs. 'Baba Yetu' is also a popular contemporary choral piece, and has been sung in many competitions. This version was recorded by the Stellenbosch University Choir in 2019.
I've chosen to use Tanzania to represent the Swahili language as it is the most Swahili speakers in terms of population.
*Though I could not find a translation for the spoken words towards the end of the song, I was told it is the Lord's Prayer read in the traditional way. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
