Khusrau Mirza was the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir and his first wife, Shah Begum. He was the favorite grandson of Mughal Emperor Akbar and his Queen Consort Mariam-uz-Zamani.
The young prince displayed exceptional skills and wisdom and had the privilege to be groomed by the Mughal Emperor Akbar himself for the throne of the Mughal Empire.
He turned out to be the most capable and qualified son of Jahangir but was befallen by an unfortunate destiny.
Being the Jahangir's eldest son, he was the heir-apparent to his father but Jahangir favored his son Khurram Mirza(Shahjahan) for the animosity he held for Khusrau.
ShahBegum constantly advised her son Khusrau to be loyal to his
father Salim aka Mughal King Jehangir.
When she saw that it was of no use, she decided to take her own life finding no way
to reconcile father and son which was the token of her loyalty towards her husband,Salim
aka Jehangir
5th Guru ArjanDev(Son of Guru Ram Das) did not “support” Jahangir's rebel son Khusrau he just provided food (langar) & shelter to a needy person.
Sikh guru Guru Arjan Dev met Mian Mir during their stay in Lahore.
Mian Mir laid the foundation of Sikh shrine Golden Temple, at request of Guru Arjan Dev
Jehangir wrote in his biography:
"A Hindu named Arjan lived at Goindwal
simple minded Hindus & foolish Muslims have been persuaded to adopt his ways
this business has been flourishing for 3 generations.
For a long time it had been in my mind to put a stop to this affair or to bring him into fold of Islam...”
‘Jehangir summoned Guru Arjan Dev Ji to Lahore’.
With preconceived ideas, Jehangir showed dissatisfaction with Guru’s explanation for Khusro’s shelter.
He labelled Guru as a party to rebellion and ‘wanted to punish him with death’.
But on recommendation of Pir Mian Mir
he commuted his sentence to a fine of 2 lakh rupees but
Guru Arjan Dev Ji refused to pay fine.
The Sikhs of Lahore wanted to pay off the fine but
Guru flatly refused any attempt to pay an unjust fine.
Later,
Guru Arjan Dev killed by Jehangir
Mian Mir raised slogans to
mourn martyrdom of
Guru Arjun Dev.
He never accepted any gift sent by Emperor Jehangir & Emperor Shah Jehan.
Good Muslim will never accept killing of innocent people on the basis of caste,Religion and Race.
Shrine of Mian Mir (Lahore, Pakistan) has been revered by both Muslims and Sikhs
