On 10 December 2023, ADB announced the release of a guidance document on “Decarbonizing the Water Sector in Asia and the Pacific” at COP28. The guidance note aims to help mainstream resilience and decarbonization in the water sector in Asia and the Pacific and evaluates the following five water-related subsectors where ADB is actively supporting its DMCs:
(i) Water supply
(ii) Sanitation, including wastewater, non-sewered sanitation and drainage, and hygiene
(iii) Water resource management: energy and water storage
(iv) Irrigated agriculture
(v) Land use and forestry resource management
