Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive form of muscular disorder that causes progressive weakness of skeletal and heart muscles. Duchenne muscular dystrophy symptoms are noticed in individuals between 1 to 6 years of age. If prompt muscular dystrophy treatment is not provided by the age 10, support such as braces may be needed for walking. As the individual approaches age13, he/she may get confined to a wheelchair. Duchene muscular dystrophy symptoms worsen with age and lead to serious, life threatening complications. The given video provides progress seen in an 8 year old boy diagnosed with DMD after undergoing muscular dystrophy treatment with stem cell at NeuroGen Brain and Spine Institute. Before treatment, the boy was unable to roll or get up and sit without support. Post cell treatment the doctors confirmed that the boy could roll quicker, arise from a sleeping position without the support and perform knee- walking with ease. With improved muscle strength he could perform back extensors, hopped comfortably and climb stairs faster.
