Over in Lebanon, rescue workers are searching for people missing after a huge explosion devastated the port area of the capital.
World leaders have offered condolences to the victims and their families.
Choi Won-jong has the latest from Beirut.
A giant explosion shook the city of Beirut in Lebanon on Tuesday local time,... killing at least 100 people and leaving more than four-thousand wounded.
The nation's health minister, Hamad Hassan, on Wednesday said, the explosion has destroyed a large amount of buildings and caused damage all across the city.
Including to four hospitals, which have been put out of service because of the blast.
Beirut's city governor Marwan Abboud estimated that up to 300-thousand people have lost their homes and the cost of the damage to the city is estimated to be somewhere between 3 to 5 billion U.S. dollars.
One eye witness said the size of the explosion was something that he has never experienced before.
"I felt something like lightning strike across Beirut, and then everything turned red and the explosion threw me back."
Based on a statement released by Lebanon's interior minister, the detonation of more than 27-hundred tons of ammonium nitrate stored at a port warehouse is being considered to be a possible cause.
It's still not yet clear what exactly led to the explosion, but the nation's Prime Minister said those responsible will pay the price for what happened.
"This is a promise to the martyrs and to the wounded. This is a national commitment. Facts will be revealed about this dangerous warehouse that has been there since 2014."
The Prime Minister announced that an investigation will focus on why unsecured explosives were being stored for six years without any safety measures in place.
In the meantime, countries such as the U.S., Russia, and Israel have offered their sympathy and will send emergency assistance to the people of Lebanon.
As well as South Korean President Moon Jae-in expressed his condolences, and he hoped that the damage will be restored as soon as possible.
