In this video I show how to install front struts on an Nissan Frontier / Xetrra. With some sockets and wrenches the project can be done by any DIY mechanic. I use OEM struts to replace the same struts off a 2012 Nissan Frontier. The struts come fully loaded and there was no need to have a spring compressor or assemble of parts.
Safely jack up the front end so that both wheels are off the ground.
Place a jack under the knuckle assembly.
Remove the sway bar end link bolts and push the bar out of the way.
Remove the bottom strut nut.
Remove the top nuts from strut.
Remove the bottom strut bolt.
Remove jack under the knuckle.
Uninstall the strut.
Reassemble in the reverse order with the new strut.
The torque specs are:
Top nuts: 20 ft/lbs
Bottom nut: 155 ft/lbs
Spay Bar nuts: 35ft/lbs
Tools Required:
14mm, 19mm, 17mm sockets
A 19mm wrench
Air ratchet or hand ratchet
Jack stands and jack
Rust remover and parts cleaner
