A mother was arraigned on a charge of 2nd degree child abuse after police say 5 kids were hospitalized after consuming edibles she allegedly made.
According to the Sheriff, 37-year-old Melinda Gatica made gelatin edibles infused with THC.
The mother then put the “home-made gummies” in a Life Savers Gummies package and placed that in her refrigerator.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says her 6-year-old took the gummies to school in Clio and shared them with their friends.
Five kindergarteners were taken to the hospital last Friday due to illness.
The mother has been charged with 2nd degree child abuse, which is a 10-year felony.
