The 14th-century cathedral dominates Košice's main square, its gables bristling above tall, stained-glass windows while colourful roof tiles evoke a resplendent scaled dragon. Meet the giant among the historical relics in the city, the largest cathedral in Slovakia and the easternmost one in Europe (with a total area of 1,200 square metres (13,000 sq ft) and a capacity of more than 5,000 people) ̶ an absolute must for all visitors. Ascend to the top of the Northern Tower and experience the narrowness of its round stairs, admire the cathedral’s altars, or check out the stories embedded on the outer walls of the building. Košice was also a very important international stop for pilgrims back in the Middle Ages as a true miracle happened here in 1352.
